YOUTH: ARE AMERICA'S SCHOOLS FEMINIZING OUR BOYS ?
ARE BOYS THE PROBLEM OR IS THE PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE BOYS ?

I don’t know about you, but I have noticed a trend in the educational process that is starting to concern me more than a little. This concern is about the growing number of discipline, emotional, and psychological “problems” with boys in school and the methods of dealing with these “problems.” I have wondered for some time if the problem isn’t so much with boys as it is with the educational system and the way it deals with these “problems”.

As you know, the majority of teachers are women. (Now hold on before you bring out the diversity cross to nail me to). They don’t seem to have the number of problems with girls as they do with boys at least to the same degree.

I am wondering if with all the talk about diversity and gender sensitivity that perhaps the problem that really exists is not so much that boys are bad but that BOYS ARE BOYS. !

Perhaps the system is trying to solve a problem that doesn’t exist or at least not to the degree we are being told that it exists.

The following article presents this topic wonderfully. Please read it and think about it. It is a long article so take the time to really read it. It will truly make you think.
