There’s the actual news and then there’s the news as reported by perspective. Now, the news by perspective means that you get it reported to you through the inflections, reflections, and insinuations of the news outlets that you watch, read, or hear. For example, you can be influenced about a televised report on the state of the economy and what it means to you by a raised eyebrow, a subtle shake of the head or a change in tone of the newscaster making the report. It is surprising how many times we are opinionated by a news report not so much by the content of the news but by its delivery. We tend to take on the attitude of the newscaster and suddenly we are no longer Joe Six Pak but we become Peter Jennings or whoever is doing the reporting.

What SPEAKING OUT is going to do is to report the same news as the normal news outlets and in many cases we will report the news straight from those same outlets. But we are also going to present the story from other sources in order to give you more than one perspective. In addition we will present commentary on important news stories (hopefully some of those commentaries will be from you our readers) in order to give you a little something extra to think about. Peter Jennings and his peers may raise one eyebrow but we hope to raise the other.
